“I make art because sometimes I don’t know what I’m feeling until I see what I paint” – Anonymous

What you can Expect

Personalized to suit your life journey

“So what, exactly, does a Therapeutic Art Facilitator do?”

It’s a question I get a lot.

My role is to help clients tap into their own courage, creativity, and strength during challenging times and support them on their healing journey. The result?

I often start my work with clients in what I call the “messy middle”—that point where you might feel lost, overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, scared, or helpless.

Whether you’re dealing with a major life transition like a move, divorce, or new job, or have experienced trauma resulting in PTSD, I’m here to provide support. If you know something needs to change but need help making it happen, I’m here for you.

I offer you space to explore, ask powerful questions, provide creative outlets, and gently challenge you so you can truly connect with yourself. When you fully engage with yourself, showing up in other areas of your life becomes easier.

My approach blends everything I know: lessons from a life that hasn’t always gone as planned, extensive art experience, a decade of journaling and art journaling, my expat journey of living and working in 13 different countris, and my Canadian Art Therapy Certification.

My trauma-informed approach is intuitive and co-creative, while remaining deeply rooted in strategic thinking. I blend art and life experiences, showing up fully with both my head and heart, and leaving a little room for magic.

My Role as a Therapist Art Facilitator

As a Therapeutic Art Facilitator, I use creative expression to help you explore your emotions, process your experiences, and reconnect with your inner self. My role is to gently guide you in discovering new ways to navigate life’s challenges—whether emotional, mental, or situational.

  • Active Participation

This work is collaborative. I offer a structured, supportive space where we can co-create routines and practices that meet your unique needs. Your willingness to engage shapes the process, helping us build trust, set meaningful goals, and move forward together.

  • A Person-Centered Approach

You are the expert of your own experience. I honor your wisdom, pace, and intuition—your voice leads the way in our sessions.

  • Focus on the Process

In our work, it’s not about creating something “beautiful.” It’s about the process of making. The way you interact with art materials—how you move, feel, respond—can tell us far more than words ever could. This experience can unlock new insight, self-awareness, and healing.

  • Creative Dialogue

Through conversation and reflection during the art-making process, we connect more deeply—with the art, with each other, and with the parts of yourself that may be waiting to be seen and heard. These gentle dialogues often spark clarity and personal breakthroughs.

  • A Safe Space to Be You

Safety comes first. I work to create a warm, grounded environment where you can show up exactly as you are. Together, we’ll explore meaning, perspective, and purpose—at your pace, in your way.

  • Accessing the Deeper Layers

Much of what we carry lives beneath the surface. Through intuitive exploration, we’ll gently uncover unconscious patterns or internal stories that may be holding you back—offering space for insight, healing, and lasting change.

You don’t need to be “artistic” to do this.

This isn’t about making something pretty—it’s about expressing what’s inside, even when you don’t have the words.

You don’t need any special skills or experience. Just a willingness to show up, make marks on a page, and let your creativity guide you.

One of the things I love most about this work is helping women realize: you don’t have to be “good” at art to feel the relief, release, and clarity it can bring.

What You Can Expect During our Therapeutic Art Session

In our Therapeutic Art sessions, we follow a flexible yet consistent routine, designed to bring comfort, relaxation, and meaningful exploration. You’ll have access to yourart materials—watercolour, oil pastels, clay, collage, and more—so you can choose what feels most right for you.

1. Check-in

Each session begins with a brief check-in where you’ll share your current feelings and any body sensations. This helps guide us in tailoring the session to your emotional needs.

2. Directive

Together, we’ll decide on the best therapeutic approach for the session. This may include talking, writing, or engaging with various art forms—whatever supports your process best.

3. Art Making

The core of the session is the creative process. This is where you’ll express your emotions, explore your thoughts, and allow your experiences to take shape in an artistic form. Whether through drawing, painting, or any medium that speaks to you, this is your space to create.

4. Interpretation and Gaining Insight

After creating your art, we’ll reflect on its meaning and how it connects with your life experiences. This discussion may involve storytelling, metaphors, or simply exploring your own interpretations, helping you find new perspectives on the challenges you’re facing.

5. Check-out

At the end of each session, we’ll take a moment to reflect on your thoughts and feelings, giving you the opportunity to process and absorb the experience.

6. Goal Setting

Together, we’ll set goals that align with your personal journey and healing process. As we move forward, we’ll review and adjust these goals to ensure they remain relevant and supportive of your needs.
